Editor's letter,

The web is all a twitter about twitter (groan), the hottest and fastest growing social network. Remember how excited everyone was when facebook first opened up to the general public, and how it was a constant topic of conversation? Well, now it's twitter. I wrote a quick guide to getting started with twitter on the amuta 2.0 website, which you can read here. The post is geared towards non-profits, but the general rules apply to anyone on twitter. And you can follow me on twitter at http://twitter.com/miriamschwab and stay tuned to my pearls of wisdom.

In other news, Google is moving everyone's FeedBurner feeds. Many of you may use FeedBurner to track RSS feed subscribers to your blog. If so, you must move your feed before February 28th, or you will turn into a pumpkin. Don't worry, it's really easy to do, and we've put detailed instructions below, so read on.

Other news covered below is a new website/blog/social media presence that we recently launched for Natan Sharansky, and are very excited about, as well as a new Israeli Hi-tech and Business Events Calendar that we've published on our site in order to help all of us keep up with the zillions of events.

Now we just need to pray for rain.

Thanks as always for reading!

Yours,

Miriam Schwab

Announcement: Make sure to move your Feedburner feeds to Google by February 28, 2009

Google bought FeedBurner in 2007, and is now moving all of FeedBurner accounts over to Google. They're wasting no time in doing so; according to the official Google Transfer FAQ page, they "are currently planning to have all accounts moved by February 28, 2009". If you already have FeedBurner feed accounts, you must manually move them over to Google in order to be able to keep on tracking your feeds.

It sounds scary, but it's actually really easy.

Here's how to transfer your feeds in 2 (really) easy steps.
1. Sign in to FeedBurner and click the "Move Your Account Now" link.
2. Choose the Google Account you want associated with your feed account. You Google account is the one you use to log into gmail or any other Google services. If you don't have one, you'll need to create one.

What will change?
Your feed will probably changed from something like http://feeds.feedburner.com/illumineablog to http://feeds2.feedburner.com/illumineablog. Luckily, you don't have to recreate any links you've posted directly to your feed on your sites or blog; if anyone accesses or subscribes to the old feed URL, they will be automatically redirected to the new RSS feed.

Where to log in from now on
From now on, log in to http://feedburner.google.com to check your feed stats.

Case Study: illuminea helps Natan Sharansky develop new site, blog, and social media presence

Natan Sharansky website

We are really excited to announce that after months of work, Natan Sharansky has a shiny new website, blog and social media presence. The goal of these efforts is to help spread Sharansky’s ideas regarding human rights, dissidents, democracy and Zionism, as well as to make access to his own fascinating history more accessible.

The site also offers a photo gallery, video gallery, audio gallery, timeline, and information about his books. You can also subscribe to a monthly newsletter with updates regarding Sharansky’s writings, activities, and news appearances.
